Piercing Aftercare

Clean all external body piercing areas with Dial antibacterial liquid soap on a Q-tip, twice a day.

Ear/Cartilage and Facial

  • Use the t-shirt trick; dress your pillow in a large, clean t-shirt and change nightly
  • Maintain cleanliness of telephones, headphones, eyeglasses, helmets, hats and anything that might contact the newly pierced area
  • Use caution when styling hair and advise stylist of new/healing piercing

Nipple

  • The support of a tight cotton shirt and/or sports bra may provide protection and comfort, especially while sleeping.

Tongue/Lip/Cheek

  • Swelling will normally occur within the first 72 hours. It is important to drink lots of cold liquids and gently suck on ice to help minimize the swelling. Use ice 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off to allow for maximum blood circulation.
  • After eating, smoking or drinking use antibacterial mouthwash. DO NOT share plates, cups or eating utensils with others.
  • Replace toothbrush and maintain oral health during the healing period.
  • Avoid excessive talking, playing with jewelry and all oral sexual contact (including wet kissing) during the healing period
  • Check that the threaded ends of the jewelry are on securely and tighten them daily
  • Excessive playing with the jewelry may result in tooth and/or gum damage and should be avoided.

Each body is unique and healing times may vary considerably. If you have any questions or concerns please contact your piercer.
